About us

Economix: Asian Economic Challenges is an annual event which is held by Kanopi FEUI, the student body of undergraduate economics students. In this event, participants will share their view about current Asian economic issues. There are three main events in Economix: Asian Economic Challenges; seminar, conference, and competition with participants from Asian countries and Worldwide.

"The region’s rapid economic growth has, furthermore, brought significant environment costs. Asia’s reliance on polluting fossil fuels has degraded air quality and eco-systems, reduced clean water supply, and created other significant health hazards. Asian policymakers must act now to deal with these issues to secure sustainable growth for the future"

-Takehiko Nakao

Grand Theme

The 12th Economix will be focused on our grand theme of: “The Collapse of Industrial Civilization: What Should Asia Do?”. This theme’s idea is inspired by Safa Moteshareei’s Handy Model which explains that unsustainable resources exploitation and unequal wealth distribution can lead a civilization into collapse. As Asia has the world largest population, it also faces the challenge. ADB President, Takehiko Nakao stated that environment problem caused by resources exploitation and inequality are the main challenges for Asia. In recent years, air pollution from industries has been worsening; furthermore, the Gini coefficient in Asia has increased from 0.3 in 1970s to 0.47. Given this condition, 12th Economix tries to facilitate discussions about solutions for Asia to avoid the worst scenario for the industrial civilization.

12th Economix is open for all undergraduate students from all over the world.
